Imagine
being in a strange hostile country, living in barracks or tents, sometimes
without electricity or an ability to connect to phones or internet. Now
imagine that you are 21 years old, on your first deployment, during one
of the most family-oriented times of the year, away from your family,
spouse, children, friends, the warmth of your living room, or the bustling
crowds at the mall. Following are thank you’s received from one
of the recipients of Operation Santa2010:
“Thank you for the stockings. It’s nice to know there are
people out there that care about us. We are so far away and people like
you make our Christmas better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart from
the 216 Fox Company Machine Gun Section.” SPC Gonzalez, US Army
“Our company has been living out of vehicles, outside ‘the
wire’, for almost two months. Without Internet or access to anyone
back home, things like the stockings hanging from the radio makes a big
difference to our morale. Merry Christmas.” Patrick 1st Lt, USMC.
Operation Santa 2011 goal is to sew, stuff, and ship 20,000 Christmas
stockings to our deployed troops.
